She doesn't get it from me....

Last night we had a house full of kids. Carissa gave her 2nd annual Christmas Dinner. She plans for weeks, grocery shops, decorates and spends hours cooking and cleaning. The dinner is dressy and they use the good dishes and stuff, and it's pretty neat. I'm not an entertainer by nature. It frustrates me, especially if everything is not perfect. She does what she can, and then doesn't stress. I wish I could be more like her. They had a gift exchange, dinner, games and movies. I had to kick 'em all out a midnight, cuz I'm still sick and I needed to sleep instead of chaperone!!

The pictures here are last years party.

hey, karen! thanks for stopping by my blog! do you mind if i add you to my blog list?

oh, what a great gift of hospitality your daughter has... what a way to throw a party!! i once heard rob bell say that christians should be the ones to throw the BEST parties!! looks like your daughter is headed in the right direction. i have three girls... i can't wait until we have photos like the one you posted!! we LOVE teenagers - used to be youth pastors... i hate it when people say, "oh, you have three girls?? wait until they all become teenagers." but they usually say this in a very "i'm so sorry for you tone." i'm thinking in my mind, what a blast it will be!! hard work, for sure... but FUN!

and i love the story below also about your singing with your children and husband in the choir... i hope you've written that story in an "old style" (paper) journal as well for your children to read one day.

Karen, she doesn't get this from me either! And I certainly didn't get it from my mother, who loved to cook and entertain and threw many, many dinner parties. I have to echo what Darla said - I just love teenagers! I wish mine wasn't growing up so darn fast...
